Total Mail tutorial >> Reading mail

1) A quick look at the interface

Inbox, overview of the interface

On the left side of the page is the list folders . Clicking on one of the folders will display its contents (message list) on the right side of the page.

The number of emails listed per page is initially set at 15. You can use Previous and Next links to navigate from one page to another or you can use the numbered links to jump directly to a particular page.

Clicking on Show All will list all the messages in the currently selected folder on a single page. Please note that if you have a large number of messages in your folder (for example over 500) then it may cause your web browser to slow down, become unstable, or even crash.

Clicking on Toggle All will invert the status of the checkboxes . Thus messages that were selected becomes deselected and vice-versa.

Below the navigation tools are the message manipulation tools . These allow you to perform various operations on the selected messages .

The messages can be sorted into ascending or descending order by Sender, Date or Subject .

The checkboxes allow you to select individual messages and perform certain operations on them .

Unread messages are displayed in bold text and clicking on the subject of the message opens it up for viewing.

2) Reading a message

Reading a message

As usual, the main menu is always available no matter what you are doing.

Clicking on Message List will take you back to the message list. Note that clicking on a folder will also take you to the message list but at the start.

Delete will move the message to the Trash folder where they must be purged from time to time.

Previous and Next are self-explanatory, allowing you to move back to the previous message and forward to the next message.

Forward, Reply and Reply All allows you to respectively forward the message to one or more recipients, reply to the sender and reply to all the original recipients.

Delete & Prev and Delete & Next will delete the message currently being viewed and move to the previous or next message.

Finally the currently viewed message can be moved to a different folder .
